Cashmere Infinity Scarf 'Giro' Blackberry Ecoprint

Late summer would not be the same without blackberries  . Here they are like a golden memory ! 

The scarf is handloom knitted in pure cashmere on my 8 gauge machine , 1 end  , in light grey melange colour , embroidered with my dots in a mix of natural dark to light tones ,the seams are on the outside   . After knitting I have washed the piece to give it that 'oh-so-soft' touch . Its a beauty even before printing ;) 

I picked the blackberries stems late summer when the fruit had dryed on the plant . I pressed them in newspaper . Before printing  I soaked them in a tray of copper water mordant to re-animate the dry stems. I placed the leaves and fruit in a natural , random pattern . The result is a floral cascade over the cool grey in an amazing golden yellow hue as if the leaves and berries are glowing in the autumn light , the print plays in , out and over the cashmere dots embroidery .  After printing I leave each piece fro a couple of days before the final wash , this gives the natural colours time to oxidize and define.

As with each of my eco-printed pieces this is ' one off'  , entirely unique print , the pattern can not be replicated , the leaves from the same plant may be used in other pieces but the pattern and effect will always be different . The print combined with my in-edit dots embroidery makes this knitted cashmere accessory truly special .

Wear it as a long , loose ring , a closed scarf around your neck and down your front or twist it like an infinity 8 and double it back over your head for a warmer and fuller effect , closer to your neck and chin . Let the softness surprise you !
